Norris notes in his phlog that he's replaced pygopherd with gophernicus because pygopherd, based on Python 2, has been removed from Debian testing[1]. Pygopherd is my go-to gopher server because it's very stable and has a brilliant feature -- it serves up your gopher content over http as well. Here's an example: http://gopher.visiblink.ca:70/ I too noticed a few months ago that pygopherd was no longer in Debian testing, and opened an issue on the project's github page[2]. Fortunately, Michael Lazar, the man behind mozz.us on gopher, gemini, and the www, agreed to take over the project and has almost completed the upgrade to Python 3. Hats off to him and to John Goertzen for creating pygopherd in the first place -- and for volunteering to maintain the Debian package in the future.
