Norris notes in his phlog that he's 
replaced pygopherd with gophernicus 
because pygopherd, based on Python 2, 
has been removed from Debian 
testing[1].

Pygopherd is my go-to gopher server 
because it's very stable and has a 
brilliant feature -- it serves up your 
gopher content over http as well.

I too noticed a few months ago that 
pygopherd was no longer in Debian 
testing, and opened an issue on the 
project's github page[2]. 

Fortunately, Michael Lazar, the man 
behind mozz.us on gopher, gemini, and 
the www, agreed to take over the 
project and has almost completed the 
upgrade to Python 3. Hats off to him 
and to John Goertzen for creating 
pygopherd in the first place -- and 
for volunteering to maintain the 
Debian package in the future.
