WOW. It has been awhile. I just seem to have fallen out of the habbit. Phlogging does not seem to fit my life right now. I still drop in and read from bongusta or the gopher.black phlogroll... but just do not have a lot to say these days. Right now is mostly no exception. So here is a general update: I LOVE the new Shearwater album, The Great Awakening. If interested you can stream it here: https://shearwater.bandcamp.com/album/the-great-awakening-2022 I've been a fan since Winged Life (coming up on 20 years ago) and this is maybe the best album since Palo Santo... which is saying something since they have released some very fine albums in those years... but this is just sooooo good. Favorite tracks: - No Reason - Detritivore - Aqaba - Wind Is Love ---- I continue to have a lot of fun working on my programming language (to the detriment of all of my other code projects). I have a small but enthusiastic userbase. Folks keep finding cool uses I never envisioned for it (including gopherspace's own Joneworlds, who made an awesome svg plaid generator with it). I had thought we had reached a stable place, but I just added, in an experimental branch, namespaces for modules... which should have been there from the beginning. Once testing is done I am hoping that this will be the last (and only recent) breaking change for the forseeable future. In the time since I last wrote I released a compile-time gui add-on (completely optional) that leverages the fyne toolkit for golang to provide gui options for slope applications. I continue to try to find a decent way to use golang's plugin system to allow language extensions written in go (similar to writing a python module in C). The type system has given me a bit of trouble. I have a way forward with it, but don't want to do what needs to be done to get it to work. So I think I'll wait a bit and maybe try to include it in an eventual 1.0 release. For those that are interested: https://git.rawtext.club/slope-lang/ https://slope.colorfield.space Really, it is just a fun hobby language and will remain such. But it is quite fun to play around with. :-D ---- The wintertime martial arts interest has faded and I am not really doing much in that vein currently. ---- I turned 40 two days ago. My daughter turned 3 ten days ago. ---- I read an awesome book from the early 20th century called "The Moon Pool". Really cool adventure/fantasy/sci-fi from an interesting era. You coudln't really write this book now because science has unveiled certain things that would make various aspects just not work... but it was still such a good read. It is available for free via standard ebooks (including the epub source if you want to contribute to their books): https://standardebooks.org/ebooks/a-merritt/the-moon-pool ---- I think that is about it for now. Be well gopherspace.
