Back in January, I posted [1] about discovering the existence of
a makerspace at one of the local libraries here. This and that
has happened since then, and I'll be kicking of a new UNIX and
Linux Users Group (ULUG) in that very makerspace a week from
now. The first meeting will really just be a feeler, to see how
many people are interested and what type of interests they have
in UNIX and Linux. From that point, we'll decide what actvities
the ULUG will focus on in the future.

This is pretty exciting for me. I've never been a deeply
involved LUG member, but I have attended several meetings across
two states, going back to the (I think) 1990's. I remember
really enjoying project presentations and benefitting from
advice from other members. It will be fun to see what shape
this new ULUG takes on. Some of those interested have already
suggested that Raspberry Pi projects will be a popular topic --
not surprising, I guess. And as I hinted at previously, I may
see if members want to run a makerspace-oriented pubnix.

But at the same time, I've been getting busier and busier
recently, so the thought of one more activity makes me a little
anxious. I am moving into a new role at work, building a
scientific computing support program, and my wife is due with
baby #3 in June. Time will be flying by.
