mpd/mpc+ncmpc on FreeBSD and OpenBSD as a local music player.
mpd runs in the background, mpc and ncmpc control playback.

  Freebsd
> USER is you. Place inside $HOME/.config/mpd/mpd.conf
> replace USER with your USERNAME
> mpd and mpc is musicpd and musicpc in pkg.

This setup does not use the socket method from above.
mpc will work out of the box.
