I have recently taken up collecting and painting Warhammer 40k models
again. I've done this twice before: As a child, and in my early 20s.
In neither case did I manage to stick with it long enough to actually
build a playable army, which I regret, as I've always wanted to play.

This time, at the advice of an acquaintance, I'm building an army of
Adeptus Custodes - partially because I think they look cool, but also
partially because they are an elite army that needs very few models to
be playable. I've gauged that I need about 8 to reach the first 500
points, and supposedly twice that for 1000 (or maybe even less, if I
add more expensive units).

Although I must say that even though I don't need many models, I've
sure spent a lot of money on painting supplies. I hope they will last
a while. (Mostly due to the principle of the thing - as an adult with
no children, I have plenty of money to spend on toys.)
