I am pleased to present my Gopherhole. Although I am going to try
keep this gopherhole in sync with my Gemini Capsule, that will be m

Colemak

Colemak is the keyboard layout I use. Learning it after a lifetime
of using Qwerty was difficult, and I can best describe it as
preforming a cruel experiment om my own brain. I had never learned
touch-type with Qwerty. I wanted to, but attempts to do so always
failed because I had become so good at watching my hands, that I si
couldn't force myself to not look and type as I always had. So, I
thought that if I tried a new layout, and made myself learn it in t
proper way, I would finally be a touch-typist.

The proper way was to not look at my hands but to look at a diagram
the layout taped to the bottom of my monitor. The first days were
agnony, and took a lot of will-power to carry on, but it gradually
became easier. Why Colemak? It moves the most used letters for En
onto the home row, while keeping the common computer shortcuts wher
they are found on Qwerty, specifically Z, X, C, and V for undo, cut
cut, copy, and paste.

I worried that this change would mess with my Emacs muscle memory,
that actually wasn't as much as an issue as I thought. I found tha
new layout was just as easy to use as I had used before, just diffe
I think that if I was a VI user it would have been much worse since
cursor movement keys, HJKL, are hopelessly scattered around the key
with Colemak.

I can't recommend Colemak enough. Give it a try.

Cell Runner

I'm currently creating a console game called Cell Runner where you
run around, collect things, destroy robots, etc. It will have a bu
level editor and programming language so players can make their own
It's a little like ZZT.

I'm currently working on the programming language which is probably
of the most complex bit of programming I've done, but very rewardin
can't believe it's actually starting to come together.

As soon as I get it into a somewhat working state I'll post the cod

In the meanwhile, I've started writing a manual for the programming
language. The language is greatly inspired by Lisp (the only _perf
programming language). You're welcome to take a look at it so far.

See an early version of the manual heru: gem.sdf.org/rellwood/doc.g
