.___. . | *._ _ _ __;_/*._ | |[ | )(/, _) | \|[_) | (Time skip) July 11, 2023 Holy crap, the last time phlogged was in 2020. It felt like I was planning to write a new entry like a few weeks ago, but actually reading my prior entries, it feels like decades ago. It really is a disservice try to catch the phlog up, especially since I'm not sure I had much of a commitment to being comprehensive in the first place here. So much has happened and so much is different, and the important things are the same. The same things are that I'm living in my little 4 acre homestead still, and with my partner, and still working the day job. The different things are that: I'm fully committed to living a homestead life. It really is the single lynch pin in my life, it's something I've steered into to connect myself to my surroundings in a more immediate and meaning fashion and to connect to my partner. Our garden is the biggest it has ever been, we've planted a small orchard's worth of fruit trees this year, and I have so many plans to expand it. The end-goal is to get much of our food from the garden, it's one that I think will be a progressive situation that may never get to 100%. I'm fine with that. And I plan to transition eventually from coding, to doing some cottage-industry stuff involving designing and crafts integrated with my land. I've gone Wiccan. I'm not a particularly faithful practitioner, but it's a spiritual orientation involving my connection to life and nature. This is is all prompted by a series of death related experiences that I may write about later. I've got a couple new people in my life. I've adopted my partner's nephew, taking on a bit of a mentor role for him. It was always an intent, he's struggling and I can see being a help, and he's somebody I relate to. But lately my intents have become plans and events. And aside from The Nephew, I've reconnected with an old friend, Sophie, and we are more friends than ever. I have lots of thoughts on that, may write on later as well. Other things that are not different: I'm still a big nerd. |
