Syncing Via the Web with Pilot Bridge
===========================================
While this post was originally going to cover another piece of
software to sync my calendar/email/notes, on Saturday I came across
something else that immediately grabbed my attention.
Earlier on October 3rd, someone commented on a gotosocial post I
did about the Zire that they were working on a web-based hotsync
engine called PilotBridge and if I was interested to join the
Palm Discord.

I fired it up in Safari, only to get greeted with a message that I
needed to use a browser that supports WebUSB. One Chormium
download later and I was able to hotsync my Zire with my MacBook Pr
laptop.

Everything seems to sync, but there doesn't appear to be a way to
add/modify PIM-type data like Todo or Calendar. It does make it
extremely simple to add software downloaded off PalmDB, which is
the goto place for any Palm related downloads.

Exploring Palm Software
===========================================
Using Pilot Bridge, I started downloading various things from
PalmDB and was able to give them a try. I tried out a few games
like some Mahjongg games and newer developed games and apps like
Captains MiniGolf, Rosary and pBill.

Captains MiniGolf is what got me first started on wanting to get a
Palm device, since the article written about the development was a
fun read and it was cool to see a modern development on a platform.
It also plays really well on a lower end device like the Zire.

| Holy smokes, I just released a MiniGolf game for Palm OS in 2024 |

Palm Discord
===========================================
After checking out Palm Bridge some I joined the Palm Discord and
discovered a small but active community on a variety of topics. I
joined the Palm Bridge channel and asked if anyone else had use of
syncing a calendar using it, but haven't seen a response yet.
No doubt I'll use the Discord for asking questions and general
information about using a Palm device in contemporary times.
