Seasons and Change

It's Fall now, despite the solstice not arriving yet. The weather has
cooled, the kids are back in school, and the days are noticeably
shorter. With the changes to routines afoot, I adjusted things a bit
in my life.

First, more workouts, even if those workouts are just walks. Cooler
weather makes these more possible, and I've been logging some sort of
activity almost daily.

Second, work has been crazy with the end of the fiscal year, and a
fair load of questions from our newer team members in our Canadian
office, so I've taken a page from Cal Newport and set up Virtual
Office Hours as an experiment to try and channel a lot of the Q&A into
predictable blocks of time and reduce the specter of distraction
the rest of the time. The jury is still out, as this is quite new.

Finally, not really related to the season, but I continue to de-Google
my life as much as I can. I already abandoned Google Photos for
Nextcloud, and I've nearly eliminated Gmail in favor of Protonmail
after a brief stopover with SDF. There are a few accounts that can't
easy be migrated, but at this point 99% is good enough.
