Last night I got home from work at about 10:15. When I got
upstairs Leigh Ann tells me that Brooklyn is running a fever and
and that her foot is infected. I look at the ottoman at the foot
of our bed to see what looked like one of our comforter scrunched
up in a heap. Then it start moving as Brooklyn pulls back part of
it from over her face. She doesn't look so well and her forehead
is hot to the touch.

Leigh Ann explains to me that the night before she discovered that
Brooklyn had a sliver in her foot while she was rubbing oils into
her feet. She went to try and take it out, but Brooklyn refused to
let her do so. At that point, Leigh Ann told her that she would
take it out in the morning. Well, she had forgot to do so.

Now, the sliver had caused her foot to fester around it, and it
was read around it. What freaked me out, because I had never seen
this happen before, is that it looked like the infection was
starting to go up the side of her foot.

After some persuading, Brooklyn let me pull the sliver out of her
foot. Then we gave her 7.5ml of children's acetaminophen and took
her temperature. She had gone down from 102.4f to 101.1f. We were
still nervous about the infection spreading, so we ended up taking
her to the ER.

By the time we got her to the ER, it was about 12:30am.
