A Review Of Northeastern US Army/Navy Stores (YMMV)

Last updated 4/15/2024.

With my favorite Army/Navy store of the past 46 years now a
memory, I seek out the remaining places in the Northeast to see
what's left over. If you know of a store not on my list, please
email me: tf@sdf.org.

Army Barracks
Various locations across New England.

I usually visit the stores in East Springfield, MA and
Newington, CT. Army Barracks caters mostly to the paintball
crowd, but you occassionally find a value there. Nice selection
of field knives, and one of the few places where I was able to
buy a Ka-Bar off the shelf. You often find good foreign field
uniforms and LBE at reasonable prices.

Joey's Army Navy
Watertown, CT

Seems a little on the spendy side. Didn't see much in the way
of field gear. Field clothing prices are better in Newington at
Army Barracks.

Quonset Surplus
Portland, CT

Right now the current top contender for an old-school Army-Navy
store. Prices are reasonable. Good selection of surplus.

Mohawk Army/Navy
Various locations around Albany, NY

I've only been to the store in Satatoga, NY. Not much in the
way of military surplus, but they were helpful and had Oboz
hiking boots in my size. Online reviews indicate that other
locations might carry more in the way of surplus.

Jamrozy's War Relics
Arkville, NY

Only been in there once, many years ago, and liked the place
except for the fact that some of the cooler stuff was not for
sale. They tend to cater towards militaria collectors, but
going there and finding them open for business seems to be a
crap shoot.

4/15/24 - Received unconfirmed report that Jamrozy's is closed.
