Some time ago I stumbled across James Clear's website. Of course I
don't remember why or how. But there was some thoughtful content on
there so I signed up for his weekly newsletter.

The emails often have a title akin to "On fighting mediocrity"
or "On failure", etc. Well I have some thoughts "On something".

Yesterday's email included a quote from Louise Erdrich. Part of it
reads: "You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are
here on earth."

I immediately thought, "not so sure about that." Hence the "no feeling
day" idea was spawned. Some people think they know why we're here.
A lot of people parrot those people. But *nobody* REALLY knows why we're
here on Earth. I've concluded that I will create my own purpose while
most other humans just zombie their way through the 80-100 years of
their physical existence here.

Anywho, I have yet to see a good/rational reason for love. Being married
for 5 years proved to me how overrated and _misunderstood_ the concept is.
It's sold as a commodity and most people simply buy it without understanding
it.

The most reasonable explanation (and I've read many) is the evolutionary one
saying that (1) love -> sex -> procreation -> continuing the survival of the
species and (2) love -> companion -> protection against danger esp. for the
children.

I don't need either of those. (1) I don't like humans and couldn't care less
if this form continues or not (by "this form", I'm alluding to genetic
engineering and cyborg hybridization). (2) I can protect myself and I have a
few friends if help is needed.

If I really wanted to continue the existence of some version of myself,

* Clones. Not like the movies, but yes, it's possible. A clone of me simply
means it has my genes. It will most probably look different and have slightly
different habits because those genes will most probably be expressed differently.

* Robots. AI will soon be advanced enough to make societally-functioning robots
but even without it, I could program a robot to do the things I want (it) to do
and contribute to/create a society that makes sense to me.

So that's that.
