7th September 2022 - Return To Scouts
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Written while listening to Screwtape's new show, Lispy Gopher, on
aNONradio via the archives. Congratulations on a successful first show
Screwtape! Thanks for the kind words too.
Yesterday was the first night back at Scouts after a summer of
recovering from the previous year. I was a little anxious and didn't
entirely want to go following a few weeks of 'urgghhh' thanks to work.
However, I am glad I did. It was lovely to see them all, remark on how
they are all taller and see friends meet up again for the first time
in a while. There is also the inevitable changing sections. This time,
I have lost 2 to Explorers and gained 4 from Cubs. There were also 2
new people. One seemed shy while the other seemed a lunatic. Both
should fit in well and it will be interesting to see how they change
over time. We tried making some South Korean influenced art although I
might of left things a little open winded for the Scouts. I keep
forgetting most of the troop are 10 to 12 and need a bit more
direction. After that madness, it was time for Explorers.  The
Explorers who had exams all seemed happy with their results which is
fantastic. We made some Jacobs Ladders using cardboard and strips of
paper. Again, something crafty but enables lots of catching up
chatter. It seemed to go well so will give that a go with the Scouts
next week although it might take 2 weeks.
Happy chaos with 70 odd 6 to 17 year olds over 2 and a half hours on a
Tuesday night. The sort of thing you miss but are always happy to have
a short break from!
