There are times when I feel that I live my life in the mode of an omniscient narrator. I watch the interactions of others and can see things that don't seem to be immediately obvious to them.

This skill often came in handy as a teacher. It allowed me the latitude to orchestrate the classroom. A good teacher is a machete juggler, maintaining order in madness, evoking admiration and fear, and tempting death, all at the same time.

Problems in the programming world seem to garner much more attention, even if their real-world impact is much smaller than releasing the unwashed-illiterate into the workforce.I now work in a world where loads of zeros, trailing off the purchase order, muster fear, focus, and attention to detail.

And, I am finding it hard to adjust.
