A nice woman up in Greenfield noticed a bedraggled, scrawny, incredibly friendly kitten had been dumped in her apartment complex. None of her neighbors could take the kitten in, and she had too many pets to take on another. So, she posted to craigslist. I answered the ad. I explained what had happened to Digory. And, though I wasn't looking for a cat yet, I had a home and this kitten did not. She needed warmth, shelter, and some TLC. I went up to Greenfield and sat outside with the woman and we talked until the kitten came out of the bushes to say hello. Completely scruffy and matted, she had no fear of people at all. Though she was obviously dumped, she must have been treated well before that. I brought her home and fed her. After about a day of eating nearly constantly, she began to settle in. The kitchen was her preferred room. It's window has a great view of the squirrel nest and the bird feeder. Olivia and I named her Dinah after Alice in Wonderland's cat:

"Dinah'll miss me very much to-night, I should think!" (Dinah was the cat.) "I hope they'll remember her saucer of milk at tea-time. Dinah my dear! I wish you were down here with me! There are no mice in the air, I'm afraid, but you might catch a bat, and that's very like a mouse, you know. But do cats eat bats, I wonder?" --Chapter 1, Down the Rabbit Hole

And, because of her favorite room, this song also seems appropriate:

"Someone's in the kitchen with Dinah Someone's in the kitchen I know" -- I've Been Working on the Railroad

Over the days, Dinah has un-matted her fur and generally cleaned up well. She really is a cute cat. We just came back from the vet. Hopefully, she will get a clean bill of health. Come over and meet her. She's a sweety!
