How to query en.wikipedia.org by telnet on the command line or dos prompt:

telnet gopherpedia.com 70 > List<Enter>
List of countries by oil production<Enter>
more List<Enter> and you see the List.

This is the way in an UNIX or LINUX System.
In a Windows 97 System you connot see, what you have written in telnet,
therefore you better use a gopher client or telnet on putty.exe .
You can use telnet on the dos prompt of Windows 97 and XP.
On Windows 7 you have to enable the telnet program before it works.
But remember that Windows 7 is nomore supported by Microsoft.
And of course you need an antivirus system, perhaps Windows defender from
Microsoft.
On Windows 10 use the Windows Power Shell App.
On an android mobile use the OverbiteApp from gopher.floodgap.com.
There is no danger of downloading.
