The Great Reset
===============

I have always been interested in conspiracy stuff, UFOs, Aliens, the
Men In Black (the real thing, not the movies) and of course the whole
dark things around the governments, and the fact that the universe is
indeed a simulation. For the last thing though, i sadly havent found
a proof to convince me fully yet.

So, it may not be a big surprise that i dug deep into the rabbit hole
after i first encountered the term "The Great Reset" and that nearly
all of the mighty people in the world are anticipating it feverish.
There was only one question left for me:

What is the "Great Reset"?

Some people i met in shady chat rooms somewhere on the dark web told me
it would be a fabricated third world war, other told me the shadow
governments who truly rule the world will come to light and force us all
into some orwellian dystopic eternal servitude. Some others told me things
about a jewish conspiracy of lizard people.

The thing with these chatrooms and message boards is, you don't know if
the person on the other side is just a normal lunatic, some hyped up kid
in his moms basement chuckling about the fact that he just made you believe
his crap or... and that is the rarest kind... a real insider. Regarding
a the person calling himself "sam731" i encountered i was not sure if he
belonged to the lunatics or if he was legit. IF he was legit, then there
there would be an answer for my question regarding the nature of the
"Great Reset" right around the corner.

After spending weeks of chatting with him and building trust he told me
that his sources were sure that the event was imminent and would "bring
the world back to a state where growth and prosperity would be possible
again". How the changes would look? He either didn't knew or didn't want to
tell me.

In our last conversation he seemed frightened to the core and repeated
constantly "they will do it" and "tomorrow the world will be totally
different". He also told me that he wasn't sure if he would be able to get
back into contact with me due to "technical limitations" after the event.
The last thing let me have something of a panic attack, immediately images
from the first "Terminator" movie rolled before my eyes and i envisioned a
imminent nuclear war or other form of global holocaust. I was simply shaken
to the core and was sure that i had to take precautions.

I made a run through the house, grabbed all canned food and bottled water
i had and moved it all to my deep basement. After some very strenuous hours
with growing anxiety i moved myself down the stairs and while sitting on my
supply of stuff i slowly calmed down. Was i going crazy? Did i really just
fell for a story of some clever 14 year old, who just send me hauling all
my stuff in my basement? I felt stupid. Now, after the adrenaline was gone
and exhausted from moving all the things down the stairs i fell asleep
sitting between boxes of canned food, toilet paper and other necessary
things for the apocalypse.

I didn't know how long i was asleep, but my aching back told me that it must
been at least a few hours, and the warm light falling down the staircase told
me that i must be morning again. The apocalypse, that world changing event
seemed to have been called off. "I am such an idiot" i told myself, falling
for some self induced hysteria and getting myself to haul all that stuff
downstairs. I got upstairs and looked out the window, it was a beautiful morning
with a clear sky, everything was ok. Then i heard a noise and saw some oldtimer,
for me it looked like a Ford Model T, rolling down the street. A rare look today.

After a few minutes standing there i moved to my kitchen and, for a moment,
thought i had a stroke. The kitchen looked... different... everything seemed
where it should be, but, i don't know, something was off. I told myself that this
must be the aftermath of the last night and wanted to make myself a coffee.
Absent minded i poured the coffee powder in the filter as i heard a soft
bang at my door. I moved back to investigate and found a newspaper lying on my
porch. This was unusual as i had not subscribed to any newspaper, but perhaps
it was some form of advertising for a new newspaper. As i grabbed the rolled
newspaper another oldtimer rolled down the street, then another... curious i
thought, but perhaps there is a form of olditmer meeting nearby.

After returning to the kitchen for my coffee i was back at my initial thought
of having a stroke and realized what i found off while first entering the
room: My induction stove, my microwave, the food processor... it was all gone.
Where the induction stove stood there now stands the antique coal stove i
have seen when my grandfather owned that house back when i was a kid. Did i
sleep walked and moved the old thing back in from the shed? Is it possible
to move such a heavy thing in here while asleep? DID i have a stroke? Where
is my mobile phone? A roaring noise shook me out of my thoughts and through
the window i could see the big silver shape of an four engine bomber plane
flying low over the area, heading for the airbase nearby. For the decommissioned
airbase, demolished last month to create space for a shopping center. While
i watched the plane lowering its gear my phone rang.

Not my mobile phone, the old rotary phone i kept as a decoration standing
on the cupboard. Still trying to make sense to it all i walked over to
the phone, ignoring my brain which insisted to tell me that the phone should
not be able to ring because it was not connected. Answering the call i heard
someone say "My name is Sam, i am glad i found the means to contact you while
you still can remember, look at the newspaper and you will find your answers",
after that i heard only a click and then silence. I was even more puzzled than
before, moved back into the kitchen and looked at the paper. It was dated from
May, 8th 1945, covering the victory in Europe... my mind got fuzzy and somehow
everything made sense. The whole "Great Reset" thing made so much more sense if
you thought of it as in a computer simulation, a restart of a game. As this
thoughts trickled into my mind other questions began to form, what was a computer
and what is an induction stove? Why was i worried about the appearance of my
kitchen? Did i have a stroke or why did i momentarily thought we had the
futuristic date of 2022?

I decided that i really needed that coffee... the war was over and the future
looked bright, why bother with this weird thoughts?
