Thanksgiving Dinner

We celebrated Thanksgiving, now yesterday, with a family dinner. Fr. Denis
and Fr. Ward joined us (and heard Confessions). Eating turkey is like a
salmon returning to the stream it was born in, except it's not lethal.

Menu:

  - roast turkey (6 kg, 2600 JPY from Costco)

  - cornbread, rice, and mushroom dressing (first try with cornbread,
usually use white bread. Everyone seemed to like the new recipe,
though I think I put in a bit too much sage.)

  - mashed potatos

  - green peas

  - giblet cream gravy (was pleased with the smoothness)

  - cranberry/blueberry jam

  - pumpkin pie with whipped cream (started with fresh pumpkin this year,
though used frozen pie sheets as usual)

  - wine (Fathers' gift), sparkling grape juice, coffee, tea
