Just like the early web but with no "under construction" .gifs, huh?

##Non-gemini text spaces
I feel that many of the people within geminispace are looking to recapture (or experience for the first time) the pre-web experience. Allow me to share a few good attempts.

* Telehack - This is the closest thing extant to the internet pre-eternal September. Do be sure to use a throwaway password.

* Muds - I've been away from these worlds for a very long time. I wish I had a modern one I could suggest. I spent almost all my time in the diku family. I started on Fuskermud, a very early gamma variant. When it met its end, as all muds do, I moved to Godwars, where I first met with the concept of griefing. Turned me off PK forever--sometime around '97. These days, maybe I'd prefer MOO, if they exist still.

* IF - Inform 7 is one of the most brilliant languages I've ever encountered. One of these days I'll share the small game I built for friends. Be sure to check out the IF archive. IFDB is probably your best portal to finding the good stuff, though.

##Non-gemini non-text spaces

* Windows 93 - A sort of a kidding-on-the square recreation of ca. 199x windows experience. Some of you may be looking for a re-creation of 90s computing through emulation. I'd really advise against it. There's more pain than pleasure there. Early GUIs outside of the Mac just plain sucked. This is way more fun.

* TIS-100 - This is a real gem. An assembly language puzzle game that's lots of fun. Yes. Assembly language. Fun.

* Uplink - Now here's what Hollywood says mid-90s hacking was like, and who's to say otherwise?
