# Late night thoughts
						// 2019-01-13

So it's almost 1AM here. I'm up since 6AM, been doing the regular
things I do on Saturdays. On top of that I'm on call. It's been
an OK week, not too many alerts, not too much extra work, but still.

Usually I don't really crave for anything, but at this moment, I'd
really love an ice-cold Coke (which is really weird, as I think
soft drinks are shit).

Been thinking about how much stuff we have around us, how cluttered
our lives are. And since looking at how much stuff someone else has
is not that polite, I'll start with myself.
How many computers do I need? One would be enough. But no. I have like
6 laptops (2 in perfect condition, albeit a bit old).
Two old thinclient boxes running as servers. 4 or 5 SBCs (mostly
RaspberryPIs). I'm not even counting 3-4 big boxes of older hardware
components, boards, parts, extension cards... I'm pretty sure I won't
need them, ever. It's like clothes. Having 2-3 closets full of them
while only 10-15 of those clothes are actually being worn.

I'll start with tidying this shit up. Same I did with my clothes last
year. If something did not get touched/used in the last 1-2 years, it
gets donated, sold (if it's worth more than $10-$20), or thrown to the
trash (well, to the closest recycling facility). Except for things
that hold data on them, in that case - a backup will be created first.
Then they hit the bucket.

Now let's go downstairs, and since we don't ever have Coke in our
fridge, a ginger beer will do.
