I believe I had mentioned about busting kindling with the slide
wedge and how it is much easier on the back. Well, it may be
catching on, although I probably got a much better deal on mine from
good ole Harbor Freight. It has been a great tool and requires
almost no maintenance.

The venerable slide wedge:

Economic growth is not compatible with environmental sustainability:

Again, IMHO most people are NOT going to make the sacrifices
necessary to come into the realm of sustainability (I admit I am
not there yet myself). On the flip side of the same coin,
politicians are not going to step up to the plate to legislate (or
promote) sustainable energy policy. Excuse me if I don't hold my
breath. :-/

Will 2018 be the year of the neo-luddite?

It remains to be seen how this is going to play out, but as time
moves on and energy resources become more scarce and consequently
more expensive in the marketplace, our choices in technology will
become fewer. Older, less energy intensive technologies will see a
resurgence. When? Perhaps we are already seeing the beginnings of
it. As I may have mentioned in previous posts, the maritime
shipping industry is already looking seriously at retrofitting
modern ships with older technologies, namely sails:

In the unplugged department, here is a novel idea for content
delivery, it may even catch on...

If you decide to actually go to the site and unplug, I would
encourage the reader to check out the article by Alex Beattie
called, "Escape: The Next Digital Divide."
