       100 Days to Offload
       August 25, 2024
      ----------------------------------------
Written on a plane, late for departure.
      ----------------------------------------

  I am starting #100DaysToOffload today!

  Why:

  - almost one year passed since I phlogged and I miss it
  - I _severely_ need to offload: I started to write down possible
ideas for posts and I already got 30 (I’ll probably talk about
    this in a follow-up post ;-)
  - I want this to become a practice: I always liked writing about
basically everything but the less I do it the harder I find it
    to pick it up again
  - while I have always wanted to, I saw a few ppl I look up to
just recently started and so I started thinking about this
    again
  - today’s the first day of holidays and I am stuck on a plane
    so why not :-)

  What:

  - for many years I mostly wrote about my ongoing projects and
technical stuff in general. More recently I started something
closer to a journal in the form of a phlog. A few times I
wondered whether one or the other was best for me. I came to
the conclusion that it should be both - I really need to get
stuff out and as long as it is not just in my brain anymore
    it’s gonna be ok

  Where:

  - definitely my phlog, probably my website too. Perhaps I’ll keep
the phlog for journaling, the blog for more technical stuff.
At the moment I do not really care, right now everything is on
my tablet (and my phone, and my laptop, and backed up on my
home pi when I land - note to self: add posts about Joplin and
what I do with Pis to the list)

  How:

  - mostly as plain text
  - I love the practice I found on phlogs of writing where a post
was written, I introduced it in my journal and will continue
doing that regardless of where/how I will publish these posts
  - very likely both gopher and http (perhaps gemini too via gegobi?)

  When:

  - starting today
  - for (at least) 100 days
  - daily (even if I might take advantage of weekends to write a
bit more so I can miss a weekday from time to time)

  Who:

  - I guess same old me :-). But you see, while the “old” part is
definitely true, I would argue about the “same”. The 24-hrs-ago
version of me had not started #100daysToOffload yet, and I am
looking forward to seeing the version I’ll be in 100 days

Well, I am flying now and I see England’s coast approaching.
I am going south and in about three more hours I will see my kids.
That’s the best way to start.
