I prefer text interfaces in software.  I like visual uniformity, I 
like monochromatism – so there's a purely aesthetic aspect to my 
preference.  Moreover, I prefer text interfaces because I DON'T WANT 
TO BE PARTICIPATING IN VISUAL CULTURE ALL OF THE TIME.  I don't watch 
TV.  I don't miss TV.  I find most visual culture to be sensually 
aggressive.  

I can't articulate this properly right now because I am tired.
