I also never understood this weird "alpha / beta" distinction
   thing. It's based upon questionable perspectives of animal group
   behavior, mostly done in the 80s from what I remember. Lots of
   books written about the "Alpha male", with Donald Trump always
   heralded as the frontrunner back in the day. Then this thing
   called "Beta male" started being a thing. I dunno. Never seemed
   logical. = Well, that's the thing about it: the alpha/beta thing
   always struck me another MBTI: a personality sorting tool. It's
   useful for those who use it, but without any real ontological
   status that's worthy of much serious discussion, imo. =
