^I have learned a valuable lesson. If you want to GREATLY lower
   your stress, don't do something that affects other people until
   asked. This way, you elimate the guilt if something doesn't work
   right away, the stress of trying to be a hero. Nobody wants you
   to rush in and save the day. Wait until you're asked - THEN take
   action. This was hard for me to learn as it is opposite my
   nature - but it actually works.^
