Well, you have Aristarchus of Samos in the 3rd Century BC - but
the Stoics didn't like it, so his heliocentric view didn't get
   popular.

I wanted to find a writing from this guy:
   [1]http://users.uoa.gr/~etheodos/en_cv.html - who wrote EXACTLY
about this topic back in 1999 for an astronomy conference, but
because I'm not at a University.. I don't have access to it
   grumpy emoticon
   15. Theodossiou, E., Danezis, E. and Manimanis, V.: "From
Pythagoreans to Kepler. The contest between the Geocentric and
Heliocentric System". Proceedings of the 9th European and 5th
Euro-Asian Astronomical Society Conference (JENAM 2000),
Astronomy of Ancient Civilizations. Moscow, Russia, May 29-June

*That* probably contains the _most up to date_ historical
research on the matter... but... it's locked away in academic
   $$$ prison. UGH.
