* Humans definitely seem to be predictors. Religion predicts
       in its way. Each of the sciences make their own predictions
       about the things they are best at. Philosophers also do the
       same, perhaps on a more broad scale than either. I think
       anytime we say, 'This is the way things are", what we are
       implying is, "This is the way things _will_ be"

       forensic studies; they are saying not so much "this is the
       way things were" but are saying, "This is the way we _will_
       say that things _were_" because a story is prepared so that
       it can be told in the future, at a time not yet arrived at
       the time of the writing.
