Faith definition #1:*complete trust or confidence in someone or
something. Quite simple.* You may have a technical definition
for it.* I'm using the general term.* The fundamental-difference
thing is the 19th Century Conflict Thesis, rejected by modern
Historians (it's considered Invalid) but received a fresh
injection of new blood with the New Atheist movement,
popularized by Dawkins and others. I'm quite familiar with
   epistemology.

+[3]JaMoond Your conceptual understanding did not fall from the
sky as a set of pure definitions: Your belief system is part of
a historical context and I believe it's helpful know the history
of one's own belief system.* I've been picking apart my own
and... it's a messy process but very helpful, especially when
you start getting into the realm prior to 18th Century and go
back into the historical foundations of many of these
assumptions we have about logic, reason, ideals, etc.* Knowing
the history from which one's thinking comes from does not
invalidate it, but provides a more proper context. Also, I
believe I was starting a discussion by making a somewhat
bombastic claim to gather interested parties.* With 163
comments, I'd say it's succeeding - and a lot of learning has
taken place on all sides of this discussion.
