Palm IIIx batteries change
==========================

As I mentioned before I have returned to use of my Palm IIIx.
Everything goes well except one thing. When I replace batteries for the
first time (I use a pair of AAA rechargeable ones) then the device shut
down and emtied its RAM completely. I had to use my backup to restore
it.

I thought that it is a problem of an old capacitor or something.

Next time I have replaced the batteries in a piecemeal fashion (that
is, I first replaced one AAA with keeping the second one in its place
and only then replaced the second one). This time the machine show the
"Fatal Exception" dialog and hung. After the reset it ended in an
infinite loop with a blinking screen. I had to remove both batteries
and to wait when the RAM will be empty.

I hope that it will not repeat next time. In any case it is a good idea
to make regular backups... I am now using the J-Pilot to keep my Palm
synced and backed up and it is good to know that J-Pilot can work with
more than one device [1] because I will probably want to use a second
Palm, too.
