R61i upgrade
============

I'm still trying to return the Ultra 20 back to life. So far,
the remaining DIMMs died after night of system upgrades. Now I'm
considering the options.

Another new failure is our SONY A200 camera. The display broke (I have
no idea when but it is broken now). The display is not essential here
but now it's very annoying because the most os screen is now white and
the rest includes colorful striped. Hopefully it will be possible to
replace it.

In meantime I have decided to upgrade our Lenovo R61i. It's the
cheapest and the worst ThinkPad of its generation but the keyboard is
great and the device is solid. I wrote here that I replaced the
keyboard. But the battery was too weak and the RAM was just 1GB. So
today I have add the second 1GB stick from another (but completely
dead) machine and also a battery. The Lenovo utility says that it is
not good but it still has more than 60% of original capacity so it is
still good enough, I'm not sure it I can also replace the CPU. I will
need find more informations about this model.

My wife asked to leave the original OS here so it runs an old version
of Windows now. I ave only installed the LibreOffice 4.x (newer
versions cannot run here) and it runs fine (its rather fast, actually).
