Standing desk (2) ================= I decided to abandon the ODROID for the standing desk. I have found my old Intel Compute Stick with Ubuntu and connected it into the DVI port of the vp171s. After some repairs is booted and it even works. There is no screen rotation problem - it just works. The problem is that there is not enough space to upgrade the OS (there is the Ubuntu 14.04 which is not supported so it should be updated). The second problem is WiFi reception in the place of the desk. Signal is weak here so connections are very unstable. But this is not a problem if the OS is not updated and insecure - I synchronised the time and turned WiFi off. I can turn it on tust to transfer data which should be enough, I hope. Now I'm going to find and install further stUff: * a USB-VGA adapter and test if it can rotate image * a USB sound card and connect my headphones * a USB-serial adapter to connect Palm III cradle By the way, I thought that the vp171 is excellent. But it shows its age now - it is not comparable with my current LCD (the cheapest EIZO). I spent one or two hours if front of the vp171s and it was not pleasant for my eyes... It is quite interesting that I never have had this problem with the (much older) SGI 1600SW screen.
