Devices convergence and segmentation
====================================

After reading jynx [1] and xiled [2] I decided to summary my current
EDC. I replaced my smartphone by a feature phone (more about that in
one of future posts) and reduced other items.

So on work days I usually carry:
* a phone,
* a small notepad (A7 size) with a small rollerball pen,
* a tiny knife,
* a canvas shopping bag.

My Palm PDA is placed in the office (I carry it only when I expect that
it will necessary).

If I really need to be on-line or need to write longer texts in Czech
language then I also carry the Gemini PDA as the GPD Pocket is dead at
the moment and I have no Czech support on any of my PSIONs (for short
notes I use the Palm III or the pen and the notepad).

I carry no music player at the moment as there was no need for that for
a long time. But of course the Gemini can play music. Or there is still
the Ben NanoNote available. But I'm not sure if I have headphones in my
shoulder bag...

On the convergence: my old smartphone (the BQ Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu
Edition) was able to do all the tasks (only it was not so good as a
knife) and it was also able to take pictures. It was also smaller than
the Palm III itself. But it is now too used, its battery (non-removable
one, of course!) is too weak and there is no easy way to sync it with
the IRIX (the SGI O2 is still my main desktop). So I often carried an
another device or two with it (a Palm, a GPD Pocket, a Gemini or a
calculator). It was also dual-SIM device but I decided that two
personal SIM cards (I have no work one) are too much for me.
