Pocket Gopher
=============

How do you read gopher posts on your favorite pocked device? I
(sometimes) use the BQ Aquaris E4.5 phone (with the UbPorts/Ubuntu
Touch) which has a ge,ini/gopher client. It's somewhat slower but it
mostly works.

On the Palm devices (on the Centro when it was usable battery and on
the Palm T|W) I used the WWW browser with a proxy. It wasn't ideal but
it worked.

But now there is a native solution! Cameron Kaiser (yes, the same who
made the TenFourFox) made - or rather finished - its Palm client [1].
It's written in Lua language (Cameron also maintains the plua2c
cross-compiler). The complete story is available here [2].

As I have no other Palm device with wireless Internet connection
(without necessity to use a cable) I have tried to use the Handspring
Treo 180. We still have working GPRS here so I am in better situation
than the Cameron (see [2]for more informations).

And it works as expected! Some gopher pages [3] initiate the "out of
memory" state but it was expected. The rest work well.

So, finally, I can have a Gopher device in my pocket!
