DOS vs SIBO
===========

My Psion SSD disk (a RAM-type one) had some issues. The RAM one uses a
backup battery (the CR1620) and it died so all data on the disk were
lost.

This should be no a big issue. If the data are not important (they
weren't in this case) then one just needs to insert a new battery and
format the drive. The drives use old FAT16 file system.

But... It was a drive from my MS-DOS based PSION MC600 laptop. One
should expect that something like "FORMAT H:"*) should be enough. Of
course, it inst. The DOS 3.3 (hard-wired in the flash) refuses to
format such devices with something like "cannot format network drive".

I tried several tricks but at the end I just inserted the SSD into my
PSION Series 3a (with the SIBO OS) and formatted it here. This worked
without further issues and the drive can be used in the MC600, too.

Note:

*) The MC600 uses E: F: G and H: for SSD devices. The C: and D: are the
RAM dish and internal flash and the A: and B: are reserved to
(optional) external floppy drives (however I ahve no idea how to
connect more than one drive - if one has that special drive and the
necessary non-standard cable...)
