Phones
======

I just finished to read agk's post about phones [1]. As a (satisfied)
feature phone user I found the this review very interesting.

For example, I wasn't aware that the Punkt MP02 likes to call home (as
a good Swiss product it seems to call to China and to U.S.). I have the
MP01 (a simple 2G phone of very similar external appearance) which
seems not to have such problem. I'm not sure if the MP02 has better
screen than the MP01 but I hope that it has. I have some readability
issues with the older model (the font isn't ideal and in some
situations - usually outdoors - it is hard to read the text on the
screen. Also it attempts to underline phone numbers and e-mails is SMSs
are sometimes counter-productive.

The (sort of) Linux-based Mudita Pure seems to be an interesting
device. Its e-ink screen can solve these readability problems.
Moreover, they have been attempting to produce the phone in Europe (in
Poland and maybe in some nearly counries). It seems to be an unusually
hard task (the creators even stated in one of their Kickstarter posts
that production of plastic body of phone is too hard for local
manufactures and they are going to made them in China until they find
an Europe-based solution). I don't think that this phone is too big - a
larger size became a feature when one grows older. Actually, I'm
considering this thing as a possible replacement of my MP01 when its
life will be over.
