Use old computers for fun and profit
====================================

Note: This text is a reaction to already some weeks old posts of the
Czech interned. I wrote it on my Psion Organiser II some time ago but
only just now I transferred to my desktop and published here.

Some people have became unhappy because the term "retro" have been
misused too frequently. It seems to be modern to try to use a old
computer or other device for a couple of days (usually without any
knowledge) and then to made a post or video about it. Most of such
people do not understand the basic principles of operation, have no
clue for what is the device good or designed for. I understand that
these people are annoying.

But I probably use my devices in similar way. There are few I know and
understand at least on an user level (I have been using SGI IRIX for 19
years and PalmOS ones for about 17 years, for example). But I needed
ages te learn how to use the Psion Organiser 2 at least semi-effective.
<fter all these years I am still just an OPL beginner. At least I am
not making youtube videos about them...

I also have a bunch of PDP-11 alike devices (an Elektronika MK-85
MK-90, Bk-0010.1 and the UKNC). Yes, once I filled memory of the MK-85
with saveral naive BASIC programs and have re-typed a Moscow Nights
example programwinto my MK-90 but that is almost all I was able to do
with them. The UKNC is new for me and I am still impressed by its power
and its RT-11RS OS (yes, these Russians used almost unmodified OS from
the DEC). I am able to edit AND actually SAVE files with the KED text
editor but I am still not mastered compiling and linking of C codes...
