Siag Office
===========

Anyone remember it [1],[2],[3],[4]? In the dark past it was sometimes
includes in Linux distributions. For a period of time I used is to
convert spreadsheet files from HP 200LX (WK1, WKS probably, I don't
remember) to something more common.

It was something strange - from program names (SIAG means "Scheme In A
Grid" By the way) to the implementation. They were are very lightweight
(some variation of Athena X11 widget set was used, their own Scheme
interpreter was used as a scripting language).

Of course there was no support for common office formats (DOC/XLS and
so) but it supported some older formats liker the RTF [5] or WK* (the
old DOS Lotus 1-2-3 spreasheet, you know [6]). Parts of DOC and XLS
files were able to be imported with use of external utilities. But it
of course supported things like LaTeX text and tables export and even
troff tables export.

It seems that is is abandoned for at least 13 years (mailing list ends
in 2009) but it seems to be still available [1].

I think that even I have had it compiled (and working) on one of my
SGIs. If I'm not mistaken it ran very fast even on very slow hardware.
