# [2020.08.04] Michael Wilklow

This guy has an original life. In 2006 he received BA in English and
Political Science. The job that he got after that was making and
delivering Jimmy John's sandwiches. During 2007-2011 he also was an
IWW organiser and tried to unionise his fellow workers at JJ. That
part of history is described in his book 'Wages So Low You'll Freak'
which I read about a year ago. I still highly recommend the book, by
the way.

But then, in 2011 he entered an undergraduate school again to acquire
a BA in Computer Science in 2013. Then he did some internship at a
project another firm did for Reuters. After that, he joined Reuters
for more than three years and grew to a Senior Software Developer.
Then he had a year at Target and another one at Amazon. I've
remembered about him because he recently quit and wrote a blog post
about his working experience with the last employer. I mean, he was
not laid off because of the COVID-19 related crisis, he wasn't fired
in retaliation for his union activity. He just decided to leave the
work that he hated. The work which he was able to do remotely from
some warm and pleasant place, which gave him quite a lot of spare
money and time to invest in stocks and other such stuff. His LinkedIn
profile reads: "I'm passionate about IT". This career path sounds
typical ad nauseam.

What is undoubtfully interesting is how a wobbly transformed into a
yuppie. Maybe Mike will write another book on that matter in future.
