# [2019.05.07] Why Do They Love Lovecraft?

Audible.com gives one so-called credit for their mobile users every
month. These credits are absolutely free (one don't need to be a
subscriber/buyer or anything else like that to receive them) and can
be spent on any book of your choice. Yesterday I got 50+ hours of two
guys from H. P. Lovecraft Historical Society reading novels of this
world famous writer. I listened to the 'Alchemist' and was surprised
and wondering once again why on earth Lovecraft became so popular
among certain people. I don't consider myself a true Lovecraft fan,
but I'm interested in his legacy nevertheless.

Today at work I decided to upgrade PyCharm on Ubuntu which is done by
downloading the archive to the PC connected to the internet, the
splitting it in two dozen of small files and then sending them by
corporate email to another PC, living only in the corporate intranet.
After about an hour waiting one can `cat` parts together and get a
fresh-minted PyCharm 'installed'. Linux without proper networking and
root access begin to resemble Windows at one point.
