## F07 LiveFromFrance S02E07 This month has been all about elections. We can all thank Mad Macron, the new nickname given to the French president by many observers. The fear of the far right was back in the minds of many people in France, and not just the left. But it was a strange election, with the main theme being anti-Semitism! The Macron supporters and the far right, with the help of the mainstream media, had the same arguments: The left-wing alliance is anti-Semitic. The left will ruin the country. That's absolutely false, because no one on the left has been convicted by the courts, ... But that's the case with the right and even the centre-right. And in order to ruin the country, Macron was very gifted to make 1000 billion euros of debt. But now France is going to be like the US in the post-truth era. Everyone has forgotten that in 1981 the left's programme was much more radical and much less verified by economists... and not Nobel Prize of Economy like this year. No arguments, of course, against the extreme right's economic prog ramme, which was less and less social with each passing day, a measure that disappeared ... to become more ultra-liberal. During this campaign there were so many lies from the far right and the government, so often the same lies against the left, like "unarmed policemen", "more taxes for everyone", etc... The Prime Minister even promoted a fake website to make bad calculations about the left's programme. It was online just one day before the vote .... and disappeared as soon as the judiciary started to investigate. I've never seen such a campaign of violence, aggression, lies and all the mainstream media lying and polemicising on the left, falsely qualified as "far left", even with former president Hollande in it. 2022 was the same, but with less violence than this year. There have been attacks on homosexuals, blacks and Arabs. Racism is now a common thing that we can hear at work and no one opposes it. We now have the equivalent of Fox News, a media network run by the Christian billionaire Bolloré. The far right doesn't want bi-national people for 'some' jobs....like in 1940 during the Vichy regime. As in Germany in the 1930s, the big moneyed interests and employers look on with a smile, unafraid of the far right, which can make them richer. It was a nightmare every day until 7 July, the day of the final vote (we are voting twice). We can only thank the independent press and the public regional press for showing how stupid and racist the far-right candidates were. Surprise: the left has won and the far right is in third place, unable to take power. But France is more divided than ever. The Olympics are coming and no one knows what mad Macron might invent. For now, no new prime minister, no new government. France is also in the semi-finals of the European Football Championship. ... A boring team, but all the competitions this year seemed boring, except for Spain, a good winner. There was no passion at these football matches. Everyone was thinking about the elections, maybe even the French footballers? The country could have stopped. It's a strange atmosphere, because I worked for the left to win in my city. A lot of people were not thinking about holidays as usual. The weather was fine, compared to all the other countries in the world, which were hotter than ever. But not so nice for swimming in the Seine in Paris, ha ha. Remember the bet made by the Mayor of Paris? To swim in the Seine herself... Maybe she's got some vaccines, preventive? Paris is still a mess in the city centre. It's going to be great, but for now it's still "in progress". France is waiting.... And not just for the Olympics, but also for a new government. Mad Macron will wait... wait... wait... maybe a brilliant idea? I have many ideas for him... to make him disappear and never come back. But not like the man who shot Trump. I thought Sarkozy was the worst, but then came Hollande... and now it's Macron. The worst, no doubt. At this rate, the next one could be a monster... In 2027, it could be the far right. But in just one year, mad Macron can also dismiss the National Assembly for another election .... and all this for every year. France is not really a parliamentary system. It's a kind of republican monarchy without a king. No proportional representation, but this year we are not far from it. It won't be easy to form a new government because we are in a "no compromise" mode. It's very French and French history has always been violent, with many revolutions, riots, huge strikes. Maybe it's good to write a post like this, but not so good to live in. I can now imagine what it was like to live in Don ald Trump's USA... and understand why they seemed to be friends at first. As it happens, France does not have many guns in the population. No mass murders either, except with terrorism in 2015. For many observers, Macron is like a little boy with a dangerous toy. No ideology, just conservatism and staying in power. Perhaps a symbol of the times? This summer won't be boring! 2Dɛ => mailto:icemanfr@sdf.org Comments by mail or by a reply on your blog
