## 33 Fatigue The word is the same in French and English. And it's the word that I have in mind in this week. I'll be soon on holidays for a week and it's necessary. I have a small travel to do and something very important in my job, the week after. But that's not why I feel a «Fatigue»...It something about little issues staking months after months. If for my personal life, I deal with it because I'm my own manager for most of them, it's very different for my job. And I'm not alone to think like that. That's a problem for the general atmosphere. We are thinking that a guy like Elon Musk is the CEO : All for the money of shareholders, not for the workers or invests...and decisions in opposite directions. Automotive industry is entering turbulences for the next 10 years. It will be a war between those who can produce batteries and the others...so, those who control the supply of raw materials. It will have consequences also on the way cars are manufactured, like the gigasting technology which is a very bad news for… cu stomers. If you find that your smartphone is ephemera and difficult to repair, it could be the same for future cars. Ask someone who had an accident with his/her model 3 Tesla. The Xiaomi SU7 car will be like a smartphone. I'm tired to fight every day to have just something to work...and I'm not going to fight anymore, because that's not my life. That's just a job. I had plans to develop the team and the services and I'm maybe the cheapest metrology laboratory of the industry...Not the worse, far from it. When I see how German, Italian, American, Chinese or Indian are working, it's not comparable. Some had «luxury» conditions, when some are accessing to the luxury and in the same country, some are working like Europe/USA 30 or 40 years ago. At the end, there are a comparable products... in theory but it's not true. And in this capitalistic world, Quality is a cheaper word than Benefits to the ears of shareholders and CEOs. Even the international standards are full of bullshits, copy and pasted from commercial notices form instruments providers. I'm tired to fight again to prove it to the «Witnesser» of official homologation organizations. They have no measurement culture, nor quality culture. But the worst is than for a s ame rule, we have more lax approvals and accreditation in some countries of Europe. That's how I can understand some scandales like the Volkswagen gate, or more recently the Daihatsu gate. I won't let all this influence my health. If they want to make shit, let's make it. I'm not very optimistic for the «revolution» of electric car because of ...capitalism. We knew that an electric car (BEV) was «simpler» for the number of parts, than internal combustion engine (ICE) but it's all about transition and transformation of automotive industry. In the same time, the cars are being connected with many issues for safety. It's a completely new concept, except for suspensions, tires, and crash tests with a big place for the battery unit, and so, the weight distribution. It was so easy to put it in bigger cars like SUV. But for small cars, don't be surprised if they are higher and … heavier of course, because they are still with a chassis usable by ICE and BEV for the historical manufacturers. But capitalism is not thinking about weight distribution and efficiency for the customer, but money, cost to build a car, cost of raw materials, time to build it… BYD or Tesla are building differently but not to be like Gabriel Voisin, but more like Preston Tucker. If I'm still passionate by what I'm working on, I'm tired to see how we are destroying this world, our world. It's not only a question of technology but also a question of human ressources. I see every year what made the «the social contract», the French model inherited from the end of the 2nd World War and the social movements of the early 20th century, to be destroyed. Macron and the employer unions are not alone. The company where I work is changing, influenced by the US and Italy. My German colleagues were the first victimes, we are the second , even if we saw the result with the poor results of the former italian-US group. No strikes, no global reactions but individually, there are some nervous breakdowns, sad atmosphere and small acts of sabotage. Exactly like politics in France with racism, jealousy, and abstention from voting. Young people are more and more depressed, and if they are not, they want to make money for their own selfish pleasure. Its exactly what has led us to this environmental catastrophe. I'm maybe climate-anxious. I hate the heat and my wife too. I'm not feeling fine from June to Octobe r with more and more days of heatwave. It's only the beginning now. I could see the good news : With more heat, it's less heating, so less pollution. That's exactly what the government forget to say when they announced good figures for CO2 emissions. When I read what I've written above, I could have titled «Depressed», because Fatigue is a consequence. I don't have the common symptoms of a depressed person. I'm maybe pessimistic by nature and that makes me very happy for each good news. Holidays are not enough now, with how I could imagine the world after the SARS-CoV2 crisis...Nothing has changed in our behaviors, especially for travels. More and more people in planes, in bigger cars, going in the same place to show they went there in big resorts and the main spots. Humans get me mad...And that's the period when they abandon animals the most. Another of my activities is to help get them adopted, a kind of Danaid's barrel. Another source of...Fatigue. If only with global warming, there was less water in the barrel... 2Dɛ => mailto:icemanfr@sdf.org Comments by mail or by a reply on your blog
