I started the session talking about emotions.
While being in my personal drama of my wife
leaving me, I shared how we can use these
emotions to bring intensity in our play.
Even if the emotions are overwhelming,
the show must go on.

We did a bit of Capoera for warm up today.
I find it challenging to lead the warm up
as there is quite a difference in what each
actors have to bring to the play.

On one side there is the 'traditional'
family with 'normal' movement, and on
the other side, you have the bug Gregor,
Body, Mind and Spirit, which are
on a completely moving differently.

I use my martial art training to
help with the warm up and what I've
picked up while learning Butoh.

The costume for Gregor has been
a big question and the more he play
without any sort of costume the more
I see that we don't need too much of
a costume.

To dress him up as a 'bug' could be
almost ridicule, and restrain his motion.
It's theatre, and not cinema and I feel
we can't reach that level of craft
that would work on stage.

We also have Body, Mind, Spirit to
fill in the details... I'll talk to
the artist director today to clarify.

I'm leaning toward a 'The Crow' or
'Edward Scisor Hand' feel, or in
the Sword of the Berserk, when Guts
'boss' (can't remember his name now)
is dying, whith his helmet, all frail
and inhuman.

There is more music now and that adds
a lot. Having all the actor on stage
is also quite the relief.

We'll play trough act 1 and 2 next week,
and hopefull get to act 3. We have the
theatre until late June so I hope we can
have time to practice the whole
play a couple time before then.
We'll then break for the summer, and
see how we can maintain some sort
of continuity.
