Why Gopher?

"An elegant weapon of a more civilised age"

No cookies, no tracking, no Facebook, no in your face ads.

The web has become Central London/Times Square/Downtown
Tokyo/insert whichever loud and garish population centre
trying to get your attention with the bright lights and
music to take your attention away from the darker corners.

Gopher is like buying a house in the countryside, sure,
you don't have all the modern conveniences, but you do
have peace and don't have to worry that you might turn
down the wrong alley and get stabbed (or more likely
that your data gets harvested yet again but the thousands
of tracking companies and social media sites and sold)

Gopher (and by extension Gemini) is what the internet
should have been, what it was, it's about people
connecting with other people, about creating communities
without having to worry that you are now somebody else's
product.
