Ever since I got a working copy of MarsEdit going on my MacBook, I've been
using my DreamWidth blog far more often. Admittedly, most of it is because of
how much easier it is to just throw down thoughts and post them, but then why
not do the same for my phlog, since it's just as easy in most cases?

Admittedly, it's because I see my phlog as more personal than a blog. I talk
about random things on the web, like making an entire partition disappear[0]
because of a loose connection inside of my MacBook, or weird thoughts of making
Windows Vista my daily driver OS for a while.[1] It's also trivial to put links
inline in the rich text editor (Cmd+Shift+A to add link from clipboard), as
opposed to the multistep process in BBEdit when I'm writing a phlog post.

But my phlog isn't made for me to just throw random thoughts into. I like
taking a bit more time to write out posts here, and keeping them to topics I
wouldn't really discuss as much on the open web. I don't always show that in
what I write, but it's how I feel about the space. gopher is more of a personal
space, while the web is a chaotic mess that needs to be handled with care. The
sheer amount of drama and drama-making there is /worrying/ to say the least.
Thus why I keep more personal things here now.[^0]

Tonight, I'm really in a bit of an /out of energy/ state, partly from a lack
of decent sleep, and partly because I haven't done much today. I find that the
more active I am, the more mental energy I have. Less a workaholic, more a case
of needing something to stimulate my brain.

Here I am, writing out this post, and feeling more awake as I do. Part of me
wants to hack on Arctic Fox, InterWeb, or Adium a bit; while another part wants
to just take a lazy night (I'm a bit of a night owl) to sit back with my iPad
and watch some videos[^1] to pass the time. And yet another part wants me to
set up my Windows XP VM as a daily driver thing and move everything over to the
Dell Inspiron E1505 I've got, just as a challenge.

Yeah, I'm weird, but I wouldn't have things any other way. /Weird/ makes the
world a much more interesting place for me.

[^0]: Yes, I'm aware of the gopher web proxies allowing access to web crawlers,
but if someone really wanted dirt on me that bad, I have a link to my
gopherspace on my blog. They'd find a way anyway.

[^1]: Thank you, Invidious project, for making it possible to watch YouTube
videos from an ancient first-gen iPad.
