!Convenience Trade-offs --- delyan's memex Tuesday, Sep 16, 2024 --- written on ThinkPad X1 w/ Slackware 15.0 evening decompression --- When people choose convenience, do they make any trade offs? It seems to me that when people prioritize convenience, they often trade off things like time, money, and sometimes even quality or depth of experience. For example, convenience might mean opting for fast food over a home-cooked meal, which could save time but might not be as healthy or satisfying. Or, using a car for every short trip might be convenient but at the expense of exercise and the environment. On a deeper level, constantly seeking convenience might lead to less resilience or problem solving skills since you're not as used to dealing with challenges or discomfort. It's a trade-off between ease and growth, and everyone balances it differently depending on their values and circumstances.
