Title: Of PhD Admission and Shear Modulus
Date: 23-06-2022

Today a first PhD-admission-related ranking list was published. Many people
(about 75%) who applied have been eliminated. I'm still here, fighting for this
dream. Next appointment is 11th of July for a kind of "oral examination". I
don't quite understand how to get ready for this interview. Probably I will be
asked about the research project, my actual thesis work and - maybe - my
motivations. Let's keep your finger crossed guys.

I am neglecting social media. Since stress has reached its peak at the present
time, I suspect that my posts would be filled of negative thougts - that's the
reason why I prefer not to write. But I solemny swear to be active again in the
next few months, probably after summer.

I'd like to report a good news today. During my BSc thesis - among many things
- I dealt with elastic properties and their visualization. About one year ago I
resumed the work I had started in Python. My goal was to generated a 3D
representation of shear modulus. Today I made it, since I discovered a DAMN
ERROR in the scientific paper I was following. As a student, questioning a
research work requires a large mixture of arrogance, self-confidence and
exasperation. The resulting plot were really nice - maybe I'll share them on
Mastodon one day.
