# 11 May 2021 - Mental health

I'm currently studying fulltime and not working at all, so I feel quite insulated from the "real world". Unfortunately, my husband isn't so lucky. He's pretty resilient mentally, but even he's starting to feel the effects of increasing media hype, increasing distrust, and an increasingly authoritarian government. On top of a pretty unstable and crazy work situation.

I wish I could do something, but apart from being supportive and being there for him, I feel really helpless about it all.

It's not so bad - we're both pretty confident we can weather through this rough patch together. But he's probably not the only one feeling the pressure like this, from what I hear, it seems like some kind of weird mood has settled on the industry.

I wonder what else is in store for us, individually and as a society.

Edit:
I had a brief conversation with a raven today, presumably regarding the lack of bait on the rat trap. The grevillea olivacea is flowering, the flowers are small and unassuming, I'd only just spotted them today. But they are beautiful in their own way. The weather is beautiful, it's a joy to sit outside under the patio and bask in the last warmth of autumn.
I'm thankful for the comforts in life.
