Adjacent to Five Questions Quick preamble -- happy that gef resurrected Five Questions and received lots of replies. I had a hint he'd present questions for April, so successful was his March entry. My post is completely separate, but adjacent. Since 2020, when my husband died, I've not had enough of life or creativity to add four more "Things I love in life." These things could be great or small: a script running perfectly on the first execution, seals sunning themselves on a beach, compliments on my fragrance, curling toes in the sand and the ocean waves roll up to dissolve the imprints, sighting herons on my seawall walks, a distant train horn on a rainy evening, petrichor, fresh bedding, wine tastings, strawberries with whipped cream, a full night's sleep... I have a list somewhere in my gopherspace. I'm not limiting my request to five items. If you have less grief, or more resilience, or a kaleidoscopic day of wonders more often than not, consider this solicitation: - submit a list of suggestions for things I could love in life. What I'm currently enjoying: Esther Averill's juvenile first chapter books, stories about Miss Jenny Linsky, small black Greenwich Village cat learning life lessons in manners and bravery. I enjoy the increasingly frequent moments where my ego and brain are shut off, and I am in the Now, not plagued by the past nor threatened by the future. 2024-04-08 Update: Thanks for nothing. The more I tell the Great Ordered Direction I accept my part in its plan for Salvation the more barren my interactions with people are. Reads to me like I'm either inconsequential or the readers do not have joys in life worth sharing.
