[13/Jul/2022] I BROKE MY KEYBOARD

A key cap broke off from my acer ultra book recently. I thought
pushing it back to it's place is going to solve the problem.
Unfortunately little plastic holding the key cap from the scissor
like keyboard mechanism was already broken. The key cap wouldn't
stay in it's place.

I called the support hoping to get a replacement key cap. It
turns out Acer doesn't sell key caps separately. The only way I
would get the key cap replaced is by getting the whole keyboard
replaced (from authorized service center). Since the laptop in on
extended warranty, I will have to pay for the replacement. Well
all I need is a single key cap replaced. How about buying key cap
from a third party? According to Acer support I can not use a
third party key cap because plugging it would void laptop's
warranty.

For now I am using an external keyboard. Personally I don't like
using an external keyboard on my ultra book. The point of buying
a thin and light laptop was portability. My laptop has become
more of a desktop now. I will look for a new key cap online (or
repair shop?) some day.

The broken key is where middle finger rests...Eh!
