# Back to the terminal - Sep 30, 2018.

I have been spending more time at SDF lately and I am happy about it.
My typing and command line skills were always mediocre to say the
least, but the daily use of the terminal at home (sadly, there is no
way I can do it at work) it is working, I can see a little improvement
over time. Because of this, I have decided to accept the challenge and
I am slowly replacing some of the tools I use daily with the CLI
equivalents. While doing this I have discovered that is not only a
matter of going a couple of decades back in time to use the classic
unix tools (not that there is something wrong with that) but there is
a lot on modern cli tools created daily to interact with some of the
most used new technologies.

It all started whem my internet provider choose to supend the DSL
service for all the legacy clients that were still using the copper
lines to force us to swap to fiber. When I lost my landline and
internet connection I started using my cell phone as a hotspot and in
a few days it was pretty obvious that I didn't need much more. I have
since upgraded my plan (still cheaper than the fiber prices that they
quoted me), started using less data hungry services on a daily basis
and it is going fine. I am sure at some point I will need to install
fiber, but now I can spend some time finding the best offer while
still being able to do most of the stuff I need online.
